No two students find English difficult for exactly the same reason.

One student may understand a text but struggle to analyse it. Another may have strong ideas but find it difficult to organise them. Some students need to secure the fundamentals, while others need the precision required to move towards Grades 7–9.

One-to-one tuition gives the tutor time to identify what is limiting your child’s performance and address it directly.

 

Who we support

Our GCSE tuition is suitable for students who:

• need to secure a Grade 4 or 5;

• are aiming for Grades 7–9;

• lack confidence in English;

• find reading or writing difficult;

• understanding characters, themes and ideas;

• selecting evidence effectively;

• analysing writers’ methods;

• using contextual knowledge purposefully;

• responding to extracts;

• constructing a clear argument;

• comparing poems;

• approaching unseen poetry;

• writing under timed conditions.

 

Matched to the correct exam board

We provide support across AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR and relevant Cambridge qualifications, subject to tutor expertise and availability.

Before tuition begins, we confirm:

• the exact exam board;

• the texts being studied;

• the student’s current grade;

• their target grade;

• recent teacher feedback;

• upcoming mock and examination dates.

 

A clear starting point

Initial lessons help the tutor identify:

• what the student already knows;

• what they can do independently;

We do not put every student through the same generic programme.

 

Teaching that develops independence

The purpose of one-to-one tuition is not to make the student dependent on a tutor.

One-to-one GCSE tuition starts from £55 per lesson.
